Functions And Characteristics Of 8 Basic Electronic Components

1. Resistor

Function: current limit, partial pressure, electrical load

Characteristics: The resistance will be changed by the influence of the external environment.

 

2. Capacitor

Functions: oscillation, timing, signal filtering, signal coupling, starter, energy conversion

Features: DC to AC, high frequency to block low frequency, the voltage at both ends can not be abrupt, the current phase at both ends leads voltage phase

 

3. Inductor

Function: Oscillation, signal filtering, signal coupling, energy conversion

Characteristics: The current flowing through the coil through DC resistance AC, low-frequency resistance high frequency, and the current flowing through the coil cannot be abrupt, the voltage phase at both ends leads the current phase

 

4. Diode

Diodes

Functions: rectification, detection, switching, voltage stabilization, light emission, photoelectricity, variable capacitance

Characteristic:

a. Positive characteristics. The first quadrant of the diode's voluptuous characteristic curve is called the forward characteristic, which represents the working condition of the diode when a forward voltage is applied.

b. Reverse characteristics. The third quadrant of the diode's voluptuous characteristic curve is called reverse characteristic, which represents the working condition of the diode when the reverse voltage is applied.

c. Reverse breakdown characteristics. When the reverse voltage continues to increase to a certain value, the reverse current in the diode will suddenly increase, we say that the diode reverse breakdown occurs at this time.

d. Transistor

Function: electronic switch, signal amplification

Features: Current control device, low input impedance.

e. Field-effect tube

Function: electronic switch, signal amplification

Features: voltage control device, high input impedance

 

7. Thyristor

Function: AC and DC electronic switch, AC step-less speed regulator
